Right now it is Monday night and I am writing my first journal entry of the year! Woo Hoo! I feel bad for writing this so late, but last week and the weekend was super hectic, so, unfortunately, senior exhibit fell by the wayside. However, I am on track now.

I have determined that my topic is going to be the Cyprus Problem. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to the Cypriot Embassy in June and would like to continue researching it. The only idea I have for my application is to write a research paper about the situation. It would be a history of the Turkish occupation from the year 1974 to the present. It would be exciting to research the history of Cyprus. The Ambassador was extremely helpful and inspiring during his talk about the current situation.

I was also thinking that I could arrange for the Ambassador to come and speak about the Cyprus Problem here in Fredericksburg. It would be available to the public and the school. I could advertise it in my church, the school, and even in the newspaper.

I have a meeting with Mrs. Clark-Evans tomorrow about my topic, and I plan on getting her input on these decisions. I am not exactly sure how I would plan the paper or how much detailed I would make it. It would obviously have to be long; but I'm not exactly trying to write a book on the subject, just a brief and accurate history. I'm also a little concerned about how much time it would take versus how much time I would be able to dedicate to it.

Today during community meeting Mrs. Altrow gave us a packet about senior exhibit. After looking through the packet, I am relieved and concerned. I am relieved that journals are only due bi-weekly, but I am concerned about my presentation (but that is really far away so I have time to figure it out. I could just do a PowerPoint presentation.)

Overall, I think I have a good start on my ideas, but it remains to be seen if I can implement them. At least the year is off to an interesting start!
