I emailed Mrs. Hansen yesterday to ask her when another good date for my book drive to be is, and she hasn't emailed me back yet. Once I get that set up with her, I plan to announce my book drive at community meeting. I have been working on my power point for community meeting throughout the week and I think it will look good. I have information about what I learned and about what I did and I also have pictures of the girls and I on some of the slides. I am going to have a slide with information about my book drive on it too. I have been thinking about what I can do for my document part of my exhibit, and I think I might make a scrapbook with pictures and descriptions of what I did down there, and what I learned, and how it is going to help me in the future. I can get a cute little scrapbook or something to put all the pictures in, and make it very decorative. default  This is a picture of the little girl that I sponsor down there, she sent me a letter and it reminded me of how much I miss her.

October 16, 2007

Well, I'm supposed to have my book drive next week but I don't think I'm personally ready for this and either is anyone else involved. It came up so fast, and we don't have school on the 22nd, which means by book drive would only be going on for 4 days. I emailed Mrs. Hanson last night and asked to set up another meeting so we can talk about a future date that I can have it. I am waiting to here back from my mission leader, who i sent the evaluation sheet to-- she still hasn't emailed me back yet, but I sent it to her. Hopefully she will send it to Mrs. Aldrow sometime soon. The one thing that concerns me is that I emailed the leader of the orphange in Honduras about a month and a half ago, and she still hasn't emailed me back. I know that they had that hurricane, but I think her computer should be working by now! She is a busy lady, but she has emailed my mission team mutiple times throughout the year including a few times since we have been back from the most recent trip to the orphange in August. Mrs. Clark Evans asked me to think about what I have learned from my experience, and I though about it and came up with some ideas.

  • I learned how lucky we are as Americans to have what we have, because I have seen people living in horrible conditions
  • i learned that you don't have to have cute clothes, and a big house to be happy. All the girls at the orphange have are each other, and they are some of the happiest people I have ever seen in my life
  • I learned how to make creme brulet :-)
  • I learned how to care for others more than caring about myself, because many times during the 2 weeks i was in Honduras, I was really sick and tired and wanted to go to bed-- but or I  was starving and wanted to go up to our apartment and get a snack-- but the girls would get so sad when I told them I had to go for a little bit, and I would stay with them
  • I learned how to deal with the heat in Honduras, the heat was outrageous-- and since it IS a church mission trip, we have to be fully covered at all times-- meaning a tshirt with sleeves and soccer shorts, so I was hot all the time. I had to carry water or gatorade around with me at all times, and whenever I felt dizzy I would sit down

September 27. 2007-- senior exhibit

Welllllllllll, I have been having a hard beginning to this year-- that's a given. So I went and talked to my youth minister Fletcher Wells on Sunday. We talked about EVERYTHING, not only how to grieve my losses, not only to pray with him, but we also had a niceee little talk about my senior exhibit. I told him what it was, how it went, what was graded, what I was doing, what I was doing it, ETC... I talked to him about putting something in the church bulletin about my book drive. I looked for some websites about how to get the books shipped down to Honduras but I didn't find any helpful ones really, I'm going to e-mail Mrs. Hansen and ask her the name of one that she recommended to me, (I FORGET THE NAME!)

ALSO I was worried about how the hurricane effected my little girls down there, and of course it was bad-- one of their roofs collasped in and water a lot of water got in, but luckily they are all safe.

SENIOR EXHIBIT IS ON ITS WAY :-)

September 21, 2007- senior exhibit

About a week ago I met with Mrs. Clark Evans to talk about my senior exhibit process. We can up with some questions such as, what exactly did I learn in Honduras? How am I going to get the books down to Honduras? And when am I going to have the book drive, and where. Yesterday I met with Mrs. Hansen who is the Director of Development at FA, she said that I shoud have the book drive the week of October 22nd. I asked her if she knew of any ideas for me to get the books down to Honduras and she told me to checkout companies that help ship books to needy kids. She said she is going to get the name of one that she knows of and let me know. She also told me that I should talk to Mrs. Moshetto and Mrs. Estes and ask them if I can put a bin in their buildings to collect books too. I had my first senior exhibit class yesterday and that was interesting. Laughing So, my next step is to talk to them and announce my book drive at community meeting!!
